I have thought about this for a while and I have come to the conclusion that I need to give some insight into myself and the Books I enjoy. First things first though you have to understand that I LOVE TO READ. If that was yelling please forgive me. However, in my life there are few moments that I actually get a chance to sit down and enjoy a good book. Some may find this hard to believe but my wife seems to know when I sit down and there are things that need to be done. Amazing 6th sense.... it must come with the extra set of eyes in the back of her head that can see through walls or the ears that can hear both sides of the conversation on the phone in another room. I love my wife she keeps the world running smoothly.... sigh.... and now she is heading with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir for the tour.....I miss her already.
Back on topic.... Books... ahhhhhhhh.... Here are some of my favorite authors:

Multiple Authors, The 39 Clues Series..... Fun!
Dave Barry, Ridley Pearson, The Dream Catcher Series
Rick Riordan, Percy Jackson The Olympus Series
Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games SeriesJ.K. Rowling, Harry Potter Series
David Weber, The Honor Harrington Series, The Prince Roger Series, and The Safehold Series
Jim Butcher, The Dresden Files and The First Lord Series
John Ringo, Troy Rising Series also many collaborations with David Weber
Jack Campbell, The Lost Fleet Series
Larry Correia, Monster Hunter International
Orson Scott Card, The man is a genius with words
Clive Cussler, Dirk Pitt Series and the Oregon Files Series
When it comes to reading I am willing to try any author once. Even if the Author is unknown or obscure. I am also willing to walk away from a Series or an Author if the Storyline or the Characters get old and stale. I especially like reading the work of Authors that write for the teen demographic. Lets face it, if you write for teens either you have it or you don't. I find that if you don't or can't catch me and hold my interest in the first 20 - 30 pages I put the book down. Sorry, my time is too precious for a weak book. When I find a good one though..... oh boy.... that will be a sit and read ..... no skimming.... up all night until the dawn and perhaps longer reading until it is done and then going back to find my favorite parts kind of a book. I love those books. Sadly, they are few and far between. Be not deceived or seduced(as I have in the past) by fantastic cover art and a synopsis composed of outrageous claims of greatness. Remember the 20 -30 rule. Sometimes the first paragraph is all you need. The secret is to never give up hope.... the great book is out there.
My darkest reading secret.... known only to the masses.... is that I love to read COOKBOOKS.... especially those that explain WHY it works. 'It' being cooking and baking. If there is a cookbook that has pictures and a step by step explanation.... I am sooooo there! I love any book from Americas Test Kitchen. It is like the Consumer Reports for the Chef, Cook, and Baker. I love to experiment in the Kitchen... then give away the results... if they can be eaten. No need to keep sweet temptation all to myself. Until later Friends.
